Sickling in the Sudan. Result of surveys in Blue Nile Province

5,192 Blood specimens were collected from children in Blue Nile Province. 302 Cases of sickling were detected giving prevalence of 5.82%. Positive results were found among many of the Sudanese ethnic groups. The highest prevalence of 14.6% was found among the immigrant people from Western Sudan and West Africa, respectively. The findings are briefly discussed.
