The efficacy was assessed of the treatment of superficial phlebitis by two new methods making possible expression in a quantitative way of the qualitative changes occurring during the inflammatory process. One of these methods was the study of the visco-elastic properties of the skin in disease. The other method was a measurement of electric conductance of the preparation using alternating current. It was found that the preparation Hemeran-gel was an effective agent in the treatment of phlebitis, while the so-called hot compresses were without any therapeutic value.
