Some aspects of the health behavior of handicapped patients

The results of an empirical examination on the health behaviour of debile young adults are introduced, which had been performed with 100 mentally handicapped school-leavers of a special school for pupils failing to come up to the required standard of the age classes 1947-1957 in areas of a medium-sized town and in rural areas. Besides findings on individual-hygienic and disease-related aspects of the health behaviour, the subjective and the objective state of health of this group of mentally disabled are reported. Conclusions for a differentiated care for the debile people are being discussed with respect to their further social integration for the field of health behaviour.
