Ureteral triplication with reflux and ureterocele

This is the case of a boy 14 months old, in whom during the course of a radiographic exploration carried out because of a urinary tract infection we discovered a right side renoureteral duplication and a complete left renoureteral triplication, which were confirmed in the following investigation and in the peroperative radiological study. In the first operation we performed the reparation of a bladder defect provoked by ureterocele, the reimplantation of the normal ureter corresponding to the lower third left kidney and a cutaneous ureterostomy of the other ureters. Ten days later, in a second operation, we completed the nephroureterectomy of the medial and upper thirds of the left kidney. A review of the literature permits us to establish the oddity of this case, its classification in the group 1 of Smith, its embryological adequation to Meyer and Weigert's law and as well as its presentation form and radiology do not defer from the other urophaties in general. The nephroureterectomy of the hydronephrotics and dysplastics segments, the reparation of the bladder defect and the reimplantation of a healthy ureter or ureters constitute the treatment we selected.
