The effect and safety of X-ray treatment of warts are still under discussion. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of X-ray treatment on warts by means of a double blind study with a control group. 40 patients were included; 26 were given X-ray treatment and 13 only simulated treatment. The dose was 5 Gy .times. 3 or 7 Gy .times. 3 on a Dermopan level III or IV (42 and 48 kV respectively). After 6 weeks 30% of the treated group were cured, while no one was cured with the simulated treatment. After 2 to 3 years no significant difference was recorded between the groups.
