Inhibition of dental plaque by pepsin

The effect of pepsin powder as admixture of dental cream was examined on 692 test persons in a short-time-test (toothbrushing onetime) and two long-time-tests (4 weeks and 12 months). Pepsin is very effectively on test persons wit low level of oral hygiene (Plaque-Index by Quigley and Hein greater than 2.0). Periodontal lesions were not observed.
