The haematology of bovine laminitis

To investigate whether haematological changes might indicate an aetiological factor in laminitis, the haematology and serum biochemistry of 12 normal cows were compared with those of 77 cows with acute laminitis, and 46 with chronic laminitis. Few significant differences were observed. Packed cell volumes and Hb levels were increased and plasma histamine levels were variable in affected barley beef cattle.
