Ketotifen in the management of asthmatic children in private practice

The experience of two Private Practice Paediatricians in the management of asthma in their clinic is outlined. Twenty two children with moderate to severe asthma were given Ketotifen as a preventive drug. Fortnightly clinical examinations were done on all by the Paediatricians for four months. During this period no wheeze was detected in 59.6% of the children, wheeze was heard once in 27% and in 13% wheeze was heard on two examinations. The authors conclude that Ketotifen is a useful addition to the drug management of asthmatic children in a private practice. General principles in the author's office management of asthma are described and discussed.
