Sensitivity of influenza A viruses isolated in 1982-1983 with an antigenic structure H1N1 and H3N2 to rimantadine 2-(1-aminoethyl)-bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane chlorohydrate, an ethyl analog of rimantadine and virasole, is studied by the method of agar patch reduction in MDCK cells and by a decrease of the reproduction intensity in the chorioallantoic membrane. A considerable amount of strains, resistant to rimantadine are detected: A/H1N1/82 (2 out of 6), A/H3N2/82 (3 out of 8) and A/H3N2/83 (13 out of 16). Rimantadine-resistant strains were resistant to the bicyclohepatane derivative and to the rimantadine ethyl analog, all strains proved to be sensitive to virasole.
