A patient is reported who had leiomyomatosis of the lower part of the oesophagus, the whole stomach, duodenum and small intestine to the ileocaecal valve. The number of the tumours was enormous and their size varied from match tip to man's fist. The operation was performed after a complication developed with torsion of one of the tumours in the small intestine, with its necrosis and peritoneal haemorrhage. The tumour was removed with a part of the intestine and the remaining parts were anastomosed end-to-end. The postoperative course was uneventful. The diagnosis was confirmed on histological examination.
