This report describe a new isolation method of pancreatic islets of rats and the results of scanning electron microscopic study on isolated islets. The islet of rat's pancreas is closely surrounded by 2 layers of reticular and collagenous fiber net and between them, the proper membrane of the islet is observed. By the use of scanning electron microscope the 3-dimensional relationship between the constituent elements of islets are clearly observed. This method may be a most suitable one for the morphological study on pancreatic islets of rats.
