A case in a 30-yr-old woman is reported. The patient was known to have retrograde menstruation and peritonitis developed after insertion of an IUD during a period of fungal vaginitis. Both the IUD and Tenckhoff catheter were removed and Candida albicans was isolated from each. It is believed that the peritonitis was the result of an ascending C. infection of the genital tract.
