Chronic osteomyelitis is a condition that requires aggressive surgical treatment in combination with adequate antibiotic therapy. The use of autogenous cancellous bone grafts to fill the defect created by radical sequestrectomy is an effective way of returning function and stability to the involved part and should, therefore, be considered a viable treatment modality by podiatric surgeons who deal with this type of problem.
