An anesthetist tried to "crack the valve" of a nitrous oxide cylinder with an innovated wrench that turns only counter-clockwise when used for opening. Immediately after opening the valve, he tried to close the valve but he could not. A very cold jet stream of nitrous oxide gas coming from the cylinder accidentally hit the palm of the left hand of the anesthetist. The incidence resulted in a frost-bite of the palm.
