Various factors in the risk of developing hypertension in persons with borderline arterial hypertension

A 10-year follow-up of 169 subjects with borderline arterial hypertension included study of their case histories, microcirculation and central hemodynamics, and physical working capacity. Among the most important risk-factors responsible for deterioration of the course of borderline arterial hypertension and its transition to essential hypertension are age over 40 years aggravated heredity with respect to arterial hypertension, an increase in diastolic and mean arterial pressure, and in the peripheral resistance to blood flow, a decrase in stroke volume of the heart and physical working capacity.
