The findings of the study suggest that more women educated upto middle and secondary school level, and more women from upper middle socio-economic strata had undergone an induced abortion. The common method adopted by them was Vacuum Aspiration/Dilatation and Curettage (V.A./D. and C.). The mean age of the women who had undergone induced abortion was 30.8 years and a majority of them hailed from nuclear families. In most of the cases, about 76 per cent, husbands advised their wives to go in for induced abortion.
