Among 348 erysipelas patients 104 were given sodium nucleinate (SM), in addition to conventional therapy, 46 levamisole (decaris), and 96 patients simultaneously SN and levamisole. The parameters of cellular and humoral immunity have been studied: T and B lymphocytes, subpopulation of "active", theophylline-resistant and theophylline-sensitive RFC (possessing helper and suppressive activity, respectively), and poorly differentiated B cells and blood serum immunoglobins of the main classes. In frequently recurring erysipelas the relative hypersuppressor variant of secondary immunological insufficiency is formed. Levamisole produces an immunostimulating action on the T cell link of immunity and reduces the level of delayed type hypersensitivity to streptococcus. SN stimulates both the T and B immunity systems, initially decreased. Frequently recurring erysipelas is better treated with combined immunocorrective therapy (levamisole + SN). Prescription of levamisole in erysipelas as the only immunostimulant is inexpedient.
