The study presents a retrospective analysis of accident cases admitted to an urban hospital. The accidents were responsible for 7.7% of the total admissions. Head injury was most frequently encountered (57.1%) followed by accidental poisoning (20.4%), burns (9.2%), other injuries (9.1%), bites and stings (1.5%), near drowning (1.3%) and foreign body (1.2%). Overall mortality was 3.3%.
