Global strategies to prevent non-communicable diseases: a view for the low-income societies

This article tackles the different global strategies to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs), contradictions intrinsic to the formulation of global strategies, and the role of population ageing in the epidemic rise in NCDs rates in low income societies. The limits of influencing disease epidemiology exclusively through food supply, dietary intake and nutritional status are also discussed. The article also enumerates the three public health measures that should be implemented to prevent NCDs.
