Adolescent's Educational Status and Reasons for Dropout from the School

The educational status of adolescents and the reasons for dropping out from school were assessed in three districts of Uttaranchal, India. A total of 3980 adolescents were covered. Overall, literacy status was found very high (90%). About 34% of the respondents (1372; 41% were girls and 27% were boys) were found to have dropped out from school.
