Seven of a total of 40 female workers of a mushroom culture plant showed skin abormalities after repeated contact with the benomyl-containing fungicide preparations Benlate and Chinoin-Fundazol, respectively. In a follow-up examination 1 year after the recognition as an occupational disease, epicutaneous test results showed that the responsiveness to the fungicide had decreased in all subjects. After 6 to 7 years of positive responses in the range of the application concentration did not occur at all with 4 workers. With 2 persons, however, a strong sensibilization could be observed despite completely avoiding the contact with benomyl preparations. Skin abnormalities did not exist any more. The still positive reagents had already shown a strong allergization in the first examination.
