Danger of pneumoconiosis in carbon black production

Pneumoconiosis has been seen in the carbon black production. The examinations applied to medical findings and conditions at the work place have demonstrated a relationship to the measured dust concentrations from carbon black. The requirements of dust measurement for carbon black and the basis of industrial hygienic evaluation are described. It is formulated a level of 2 mg/m3 for respirable dust from carbon black as a MAC-proposal for prevention of carbon black lung.
