Diverticula of the right colon are considered rare (1-3% of colonic diverticula). In the last two years, we have used, routinely, a double contrast method for the radiological study of diseases of the colon. In order to establish the statistical incidence of right colon diverticula with greater accuracy, 261 colon examinations, carried out using this method, were analyzed retrospectively. The investigators observed colon diverticula in 41 patients (15.7%); 13 of them presented right colon diverticula (31.7% of all colonic diverticula). This higher percentage seems to be justified by the routine use of the double contrast method which allows, thanks to greater accuracy, to identify all the diverticula, usually not appreciated, especially in the right side of the colon.
