Five Pb poisoning cases with acute abdominal symptoms were detected in the scrapping workers of aircraft carriers in Nagasaki City in April 1961 as described in the previous report (part 1). In this report, clinical examinations of these cases were presented. The major complaints were abdominal colic and nausea usually appearing in common abdominal diseases. Ca injection proved efficacious against colic while narcotic drug showed no effect. Burtonian line, anemia, punctata basophilia (20-30 0/00) and coproporphyrinuria (570-2300 r/l) were found. Pb concentration in the blood and urine revealed 79-133 r/dl and 96-245 r/dl respectively. In all cases, objective, hematological and biochemical signs were rapidly improved by oral administration of a daily dose of 2.2 g of Ca- ethylenediaminetetra acetic acid (EDTA) for about 3 weeks. No side effects occurred.
