The incidence of iatrogenic digestive hemorrhage has been evaluated in the course of one year in patients hospitalized in Rome Policlinico Umberto I.degree. [Italy] and the data were compared to those reported in a prior statistical research carried out in the same hospital, in order to arrive at an indirect assessment of the reduced gastric damage causd by the new antirheumatic drugs. The results obtained show iatrogenic digestive hemorrhage to have become less frequent, and thus demonstrate the lesser gastric irritation caused by new molecules used in antiinflammatory drug treatment.
