Oviposition rates of L. albicosta (Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), were determined throughout the ovipositional period for 3 yr in 3 to 5 corn hybrids with different day-degree requirements, each planted on 2 to 3 dates. Number of eggs laid was related to both factors. Overall, plots with the earliest mean growth stage tended to receive the greatest number of eggs at all sampling dates. In 1 yr, oviposition began while growth stages were earlier than in the other 2 yr. Egg distribution for that year showed a tendency for plants that were just beginning to tassel to receive more eggs than earlier or later growth stages. The relationships between adult light trap catches and total oviposition in the experimental area appeared similar in the 3 yr regarding magnitude and timing of peak numbers and duration of activity.
