High frequency jet ventilation during open bronchus in the pulmonary surgery

High frequency ventilation is characterized by a low airway pressure, and is used in the respiratory care or anesthesia for the patients with airway leakage, bulla or other pulmonary conditions who cannot be ventilated by conventional IPPV . Blood pressure rose slightly by HFJV. The reason for this may be attributed to the fall in anesthetic concentration by mixing with O2 from jet. HFJV seems to be adequate for open bronchus during lung surgery. A few cases showed mild hypoventilation, and there may yet be some technical problems to be solved about the application of HFJV.
