This paper argues that by addressing the human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) problem, a severe form of poverty that is exacerbated by the pandemic shall also be addressed. Topics discussed include: concepts and indicators of poverty; HIV/AIDS in Kenya, its pervasiveness, and impacts; strategies to combat the pandemic; and the church's involvement in combating HIV/AIDS.
