Cases (192) with limb defects were studied of 1000 cases referred to over 2 yr. Undergrowth of a limb was the commonest malformation (59.9%) followed by failure of differentiation of parts (15.6%). Limb deformity as a part of a generalized skeletal defect formed 12.0% and polydactyly formed 11.9% of the limb defects. A genetic cause was found in 71.3% cases, environmental factors were found in 3.6 and 25.0% were of unknown etiology.
