Use of compression osteosynthesis for osteoplastic surgery in the mandible

The use of small osteosynthesis-plates for the mandible was demonstrated for the fixation and stabilization of bone grafts used in treating defects of the lower jaw. A therapeutical model, developed by the Leipzig clinic is introduced. Healing of bone grafts in different size, position and form is obtained and proved by clinical, radiological and pathohistological findings. The early functional stability of bone grafts and missing osteolysis supports this method of treatment. Osseous resistance, functional stability and viable bone tissue are evident.
