Erysipelas, uncommon in fowls in Great Britain, occurred in a broiler-breeder flock of 1, 100 fowls and caused sporadic, sudden deaths and a drop in egg production. The principal P.M. findings were petechiation of the heart and spleen and severe mesenteric congestion with some haemorrhages. The liver was discoloured on the surface and had a cooked appearance on section. Treatment with chlortetracycline resulted in an improvement in egg production.
