The influence of human IgG on the cytotoxic effect in vitro in cases of ulcerative colitis

The purpose of the study was evaluation of the influence of human aggregated immunoglobulin G on the cytotoxic effect in vitro in cases of ulcerative colitis. The study was carried out on 20 patients with varying intensity of the disease. The fraction of mononuclear cells isolated from the peripheral blood of the patients was devoid of T cells, rich in B cells and containing K cells. After incubation with IgG this fraction demonstrated a statistically significant inhibition of the cytotoxic effect on the colonic epithelial cells. These results support the hypothesis about the participation of antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) in the mechanism of cytolysis in vitro in cases of ulcerative colitis.
