Survey of 631 total laryngectomies (TL) realized in Cataluna during the period 1980-1982. 99.7 per cent of the collective belongs to the male sex and were operated upon in the fifth decade of life, age of the most frequent appearance of the disease. Only 26 per cent of these laryngectomes have followed a phoniatric training in the Centers considered. The reasons for this scarce percentage of rehabilitations are analysed in the paper.
