Rhizosphere and rhizoplane microfungi of 14 species of ferns belonging to 9 families were studied. Evolutionary trends in qualitative fungal flora were observed up to a certain phylogenetic level, though some families (Glecheniaceae, Blechnaceae) did not match this trend.
