Endomyocardial fibrosis is described in 4 Tanzanian Africans who died. It is considered that the disorder occurs, in a select population adversely conditioned by prolonged ill-health, through a complex interrelationship of malnutrition, helminth infestations, chronic anaemia and toxic factors in the environment.
