Morphologic observations following balloon angioplasty are summarized from adult patients undergoing coronary or saphenous vein bypass graft angioplasty and from infants undergoing aortic valve stenosis angioplasty. Possible mechanisms of dilation injury and complications of angioplasty balloon bursting are reviewed.
