Detection of vegetation in cardiac valves in subacute septic endocarditis shows the severity of the condition and specifies the character of valvular affection. But the results may be false-negative or false-positive and thus may lead to inaccurate diagnosis. That is why the greatest importance in identification of subacute septic endocarditis should be ascribed to clinical symptoms.
