The communications media not only disseminate information, opinions and comments - the keys to real democratic life- but journalists also intervene in the fanciful game which occurs between our minds and the external world. The psychological training of the journalist must go beyond the knowledge of his subject, of communication techniques, or even of the awareness of his own public image. The knowledge and understanding of these psychological processes must be integrated into this training. The author's experience throws light upon the possible contribution of the clinical psychologist to the communications media.
