To evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of hysteroscopic tubal sterilization in women with an intrauterine device (IUD). Prospective observational study (Canadian Task Force classification II-2). University hospital. From January 2005 through January 2006, all women with an IUD who came for a hysteroscopic tubal sterilization consultation were selected to participate. Hysteroscopic tubal sterilization in women with IUD. Feasibility of the procedure, localization of microinserts, and tubal occlusion evaluated by hysterography. Hysteroscopic tubal sterilization was performed in 6 patients. Hysterography showed correct placement of microinserts and bilateral tubal occlusion in all patients. Hysteroscopic tubal sterilization in women with an IUD appears to be a feasible and effective procedure.
