Diseases associated with the ingestion of foods are mostly caused by microbiological agents that can be components of the food itself or occur in the environment and be ingested by animals intended for human consumption. Poisoning from chemical substances can result from the natural composition of certain foods which contain them, external substances that contaminate them, or products deliberately added for technological purposes.
