The i.v. administration of low doses of PGE1 during 10 min (0.3 .mu.g/kg per min, 1.5 .mu.g/kg per min), significant effects on hemodynamics were studied in the arterioles of rat mesentery. The reciprocal actions of PGE1 were tested with norepinephrine (NE). With 0.3 .mu.g/kg per min, the microcirculation showed no change but the vasoconstriction rate of NE was inhibited in 5 min after PGE1 infusion. With 1.5 .mu.g/kg per min, the microcirculation showed also no change but in some cases, the constriction of arteriole and the acceleration of vasomotion were produced during PGE1 infusion and these phenomena disappeared 30 min after PGE1 infusion. The effect of i.v. PGE1 showed a dose dependent difference.
