Traditional herbal medicines for malaria

Ethnobotanical, pharmacological, and clinical studies on herbal antimalarials and on plant-based methods of insect repellence and vector control are reviewed and lessons learned from developing countries on the management and control of malaria are outlined. The influences on use of herbal antimalarials, plant species used as antipyretics or antimalarials, and clinical safety and efficacy of herbal preparations for uncontrolled malaria are discussed.
