A 1-mo. pilot study run at an Army dental clinic treating active duty personnel, found a 40% acceptance rate on the part of patients being asked if they would like to attend a preventive dental instruction program. Patients completed a questionnaire prior to being seen by a dentist. Thus, they were not coerced in any way into accepting the program.
