Virological investigations were performed in 25 herpangina cases that occurred in a large urban center in the summer season of 1982. Twelve coxsackievirus A strains (10 coxsackievirus A5 strains, 1 coxsackievirus A4 and 1 coxsackievirus A6 strain) could be isolated from 9 (36.0%) of the patients.
