Use of carbon fibre implants in the treatment of fetlock joint dislocation in two horses

A carbon fibre implant was used to replace the severed lateral collateral ligament in two horses with fetlock dislocation. One is still being ridden actively after 2.5 years, the other is about to be ridden 6 months after the operation. It is pointed out that 7% of horses destroyed on racecourses have medial fetlock dislocation with rupture of the lateral collateral ligament.
