The key findings, policy suggestions and principles that were formed during the conference on the social aspects of HIV/AIDS (in the context of Africa), are presented. Various papers on this topic are presented; these include issues on care and human rights, legal and customary law; financing of AIDS programmes and research; access to affordable drugs (antiviral agents); nutrition and food security; women and children; HIV/AIDS prevention; treatment and care of HIV/AIDS patients; issues on social stigma in relation to care of HIV/AIDS patients; and the epidemiology of HIV/AIDS.
