The effects of laser treatment on the retinas of albino mice were investigated using EM alkaline phosphatase histochemistry. In general, the result agreed well with previous light microscopic studies. The localization of the activity is mainly concentrated in the vesicles of the pigment cells, the membranes of endothelial cells of the blood vessels, the cytoplasm and membranes of neuronal processes in the inner plexiform layers and the cell and nuclear membranes and cytoplasm of ganglion cells. Some degree of variation in reactivity was observed immediately after injury before recovery.
