An experimental study in dogs in which a duramater graft was implanted in the wall of right ventricle outflow tract is presented. The graft was constructed with 2 parts, one with the arachnoidal and the other with the periostal surface oriented to the ventricular cavity. In groups of 3 dogs, the grafts were recovered after 1, 4, 6 and 8 wk, and studied by optical, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The original graft remained without major alterations but became infiltrated by blood cells and fibrocytes. This infiltrate initially occurred in the fibrin layer deposit in the depth of the graft together with the vessels. The tissue is apparently adequate for the use in the right ventricle outflow tract and that the arachnoidal surface should be oriented as the luminal one.
