This paper presents two case studies based on the Pakistani setting, which highlight the importance of integrating hospital- and home-based health services in emergency situations such as refugee camps (case study 1), and at a district level (case study 2) to provide better maternal and child care. Case study 1 involved 3 Afghanistan refugee camps in Pakistan. The quality of health services provided in both case studies is emphasized to enable us to understand the urgency of developing an efficient heath system in Pakistan.
