An increased level of serum IgG and IgA, low values of the complement titer and normal values of the immune complexes and IgM were found in 60 patients suffering from chronic obstructive bronchitis. After effective treatment these parameters approached normal values. In patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis attended with low values of humoral and cell immunity routine antibiotic treatment is of low effect. Prognosis is unfavorable in patients with deficient cell-mediated immunity.
